Children's Special Healthcare Services
Children’s Special Health Care Services is a supplemental government insurance program that helps families with children who have special health needs. Families benefit from this program whether they have conventional insurance, Medicaid, or no health insurance. The program covers the costs of doctors, hospitals, equipment, and medication for children from birth to 21 years who have a chronic health condition.
Eligibility is based on the child’s medical condition and not on the family’s financial status. Many conditions are covered, including:
- Cancer
- Hearing loss
- Muscular dystrophy
- Cerebral palsy
- Sickle cell anemia
- Chronic ear conditions
- Prematurity
- Birth defects and many, many more conditions
Additional assistance is offered, including:
- Connecting you with the right doctors
- Guidance in efficiently and effectively managing your child’s care
- Assistance from a representative to help you with your paperwork
- In special circumstances, help with extra medical expenses
